As I think about my family history there are recurring themes that fascinate me. These include things like our origins, migration, faith, identity, and historical events that our ancestors lived through. The places that we live have a huge effect on how we think of ourselves, our identity, whether we think of countries or towns, even homes and workplaces. Language is important too: though my side of the family is distinctly English speaking Australia, my forefathers came from Germany, Ireland and Scotland, and Maria’s from Sweden and further back Belgium. Migration both voluntary and involuntary has played its part, as has travel and sojourns in various parts of the world.
These themes I have tried to put together as the categories for blog posts.
